REACH is a club that creates a safe, welcoming, and accepting school environment for all students regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month in room H221 to play games, build community, and plan for your year end event…pride week! Everyone is welcome, so join!
Mission Statement

Respect, Embrace, Accept, Celebrate, Honor.
MISSION:
To create a safe space for people of all races, religions, genders, sexual orientations, languages of origin, size, or physical or mental abilities.
GOAL: Awareness & Education
To identify problems in the school environment affecting GLBTQ (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning) students, which in turn undermines their education.
To identify and present tools and strategies for helping education employees reduce hostilities toward GLBTQ students.
To create an understanding and appreciation for the responsibility of society to protect the rights of all individuals.
When schools are safe, teachers can teach and students can learn!
The bottom line is…
Every child deserves a safe education no matter his/her race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, language of origin, size, or physical or mental abilities.
Allies
Straight Allies are very important!
I’m an ALLY if:
I respect all students, staff and families regardless of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, size, or physical or mental abilities.
I believe that having a diverse school population enriches the school community.
I am willing to confront verbal, physical, and sexual harassment on my school site.
I care about the safety of all persons on campus an am willing to do what I can to help create a safer environment.
I choose not to use slurs based on stereotypes about race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, size, or physical or mental abilities.
I will maintain confidentiality if a member of the school community confides in me unless that person is in danger of causing harm to ones self or others.

History
2005-06
REACH was founded in October 2005 by then Juniors, Natalie Barnett, Erica Olmstead, Emily Reding and Emily Waid-Jones. The first year was a tremendous success.
The 1st Annual Community Prom was held April 29, 2006 at the Comfort Inn Ballroom in Plattsburgh, New York.
148 students from 6 local high schools attended.
2006-07
The 2nd Annual Community Prom was held March 2007 at the Comfort Inn Ballroom in Plattsburgh, New York.
More than 150 students from 7 local high schools attended!
The GSA participated in Mix It Up Day, World AIDS Day and the Day of Silence.

MTV was here!!! True Life was doing a story on a young man from NCCS and he attended our Prom. Very validating!
